Paranoid Schizophrenia was the diagnosis made when she turned 15. Still quite young to have such a disease, but there was really no other explanation for her behavior. These were no imaginary friends that she spoke to and laughed with, those little fiends had been grown out of. She hears voices and things that aren't there, and her hallucinations can be quite hindering. It can be quite difficult to tell what is and isn't real sometimes. ADD has been present since early childhood. It makes her restless sometimes, and it hinders her ability to concentrate. She needs to multitask to work efficiently or else she'll end up moving from one task to another hazardously no matter if it was completed or not. She's always looking for something new to do, something to take away the restless feeling in her mind. She is also prone to fugue states. During these times, she may temporarily forget who she is, her personality, or anything else that may identify her mental identity. It is quite possible for her to assume a new identity during these periods, and one should not be surprised if excessive stress causes her to forget everything. These amnesia-like symptoms are temporary, from hours to days, and when they're over she usually regains her full memory in tact. Now, for the overall effect. Calypso is a very intelligent girl, or as some would say, 'dangerously clever'. She needs something to occupy her mind, some puzzle or riddle to solve. When her mind is busy, she is happy. She likes to read, sketch, and observe. People are her main targets. They are the pawns of one giant chessboard, and she is watching the game being played. The game is magnificent, and she learns quickly and efficiently. Sometimes, when the mood is upon her, she will rally up her own "game" with her own personal pawns, watching as they do what she already knows they will do. Calypso also has a knack for getting into trouble, be it being just plain mean to others or insulting them deep down, she knows what hurts people. With her cleverness comes sarcasm. She has a good sense of humor, but her smile is always more of a smirk. There are moments when she can be quite lazy. The girl will sit or lay somewhere, be it on the floor or in a meadow or perhaps on a fence, and just zone out completely. Sometimes she'll chat aimlessly with the various voices in her head, and other times she will simply block them out and listen to the world at large. In these moments, she is at her friendliest, and will talk to whoever comes near and joke, as if they are good friends. Patience is a virtue, one which she lacks. In her games, she must force herself to be patient. When that fails, she forces her attention elsewhere until the time is right for action. It's hard, and she struggles with it constantly. This struggle brings on ticks, clapping her hands and snapping her fingers usually, and those only frustrate her further. She gets angry and will yell and scream to her heart's desire. At these moments she is at her most aggressive, and her most dangerous. [/scrolly] [scrolly:h(90),w(400),sy] history: aising the ADD girl had not been easy. Her parents were a young couple with no prior experience, and they made plenty of mistakes along the way. They put off her ADD as just normal child-like behaviors, and let her run around as she pleased. When it came to school, she was startlingly brilliant, but lacked mental challenges. Her teachers would give her higher work, but after a while she refused to do anything at all, claiming it was all worthless anyways and knew it all. Her parents were furious, and they cut off all of her privileges. She rebelled further, and her parents were forced to tighten their hold to the point of smothering her. They watched her day and night, making sure her homework was done. Eventually, with the help of several counselors, they reached a compromise. Calypso would do her work, and in return her parents would seek out the hardest puzzles they could find and give them to her. This development worked all through elementary and junior high school. However, the summer after eight grade, her mother and father started noticing odd things going on. Their daughter seemed more skittish than usual, and she was talking and looking at things that simply weren't there. She grew more aggressive than usual, and her conversations grew somewhat rambly. After extensive therapy sessions and psychiatrist meetings, she was diagnosed with mild Schizophrenia months after her first symptoms. It was one of the rarer cases, and the doctors had been baffled for some time. The medication helped a bit, but high school became increasingly irritating. She would skip day after day to do something more worthwhile. Not knowing what else to do, her parents sent her to a strict boarding school. There, she played nice, knowing it would bring freedom upon her faster. She still had her off days, gods know they were frequent, but eventually she did graduate. At eighteen, the fugue states began. After everything going so wrong so frequently, her parents gave up completely. They were done, and there was no way this young woman would make it through college without killing them along the way. With their foot down, they sent her off to the asylum in the desperate hope that they could fix what so many doctors and psychiatrists could not.
